Mouth Cancer Screening

Mouth cancer can occur in any part of the mouth, including the tongue, lips, inside of the cheek and throat. Mouth cancer has a higher proportion of deaths per number of cases than breast, cervical or skin cancer. The mortality rate is just over 50% despite treatment, with about 1,700 deaths per year in the UK. This high mortality rate is because of late detection.

Here at Simplybright, we check the mouth for any abnormalities or mouth cancers routinely as part of every dental check-up. Visiting us regularly will allow for early detection and education in preventing oral cancer. Please contact your local branch if you have any concerns.

Mouth/Sports Guards

A mouth/sports guard is a custom-made rubber like cover which fits exactly over your teeth and gums, cushioning them and protecting them from damage. It is important to wear a professionally made mouth/sports guard whenever you play a sport that involves physical contact or moving objects to reduce the risk of damage to the teeth and jaw.

Simplybright offers a range of custom-made mouth guards.

If you take part in any contact sports, please contact your local branch for further information.

Fissure Sealants

A fissure sealant is a plastic coating which bonds into the grooves of the chewing surface of a tooth, as a means of helping to prevent the formation of tooth decay. Some back teeth, especially molars, are difficult to clean because the grooves in the chewing part of the tooth are deep and narrow.

At Simplybright, our dentists can combat this situation by placing a fissure sealant into the grooves of a tooth. The result is that the surface of the tooth is more cleansable reducing the risk of decay. This treatment is especially useful for children where newly erupted teeth can be protected from dental decay.
